Taylor G. Peterson: Celebrate Me Home: A Missionally-Minded Prayer

In early January, the Buffalo Bills safety, Damar Hamlin, collapsed on the field when his heart stopped cold. Fortunately, expert help arrived immediately, and after a week or so in the hospital, he demonstrated a remarkable recovery. What was interesting to me was the references to prayer by the commentators, and the kneeling of players from both teams on the field in prayer. People from most faith backgrounds are known to pray. Although all people are encouraged to pray in scripture, there are guidelines on how to pray. One of the types of prayers is for guidance and strength to serve people. Such is the core of this missionally-minded prayer below, written by Taylor G. Peterson.

Taylor has served IBEC for several years as the producer of the weekly blog, along with other technical web related tasks. He is an amazing follower of Jesus, and a hard-working student and worker. He is a college senior studying Applied Ministry and Global Studies and has been accepted to be deployed to Romania with Greater Europe Mission in 2024. In a part of the world that is facing tremendous need for Christlike humanitarian aid, due to the Ukrainian war crisis (John 16:33), God has commissioned him with the tools, calling, eternal fire, and conviction to be His hands and feet, walking alongside the least of these (Matthew 25:35-40), and widows. (James 1:27) Taylor’s passion is to bring freedom, life preparation and transformation to the orphans and other disadvantaged youth of that country. He expects to teach, counsel, and help provide jobs for young adults. He would appreciate your ongoing partnership through prayer or financial gifts, in this eternally burning vision that God has implanted deeply within his soul. If you feel led to donate, you may do so online through his Greater Europe Mission portal found at the link below.

Lord, celebrate me Home;
Oh, won’t You carry me there?
For I’ll be right beside You,
With the Cross You’ve given me to bear…

In all I do, grant me the strength to exhibit Holy care;
So that I can deliver people from spiritual death and despair;
By extending evidence of Your true love everywhere!

I’ll be there to help those that are unaware,
Of Your matchless grace, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, and presence,
Which is wholeheartedly accepted
Through Christ’s salvation prayer! (Romans 10:9-10)

You’ve called me to walk alongside the least of these, the forgotten, and the broken… (Matthew 25:35-40, Ruth 1:16-17)
To share of how Heaven’s Eternal Hope remains freely wide open;
And to bring Your healing power to the unspoken

Father, You are the only solid rock,
And I am Your messenger;
Yes, Christ paid the ultimate Holy price on Calvary
To set us free
With Heaven’s Keys…

From Your endless love and grace amazing,
Won’t You celebrate me Home?
I’m grateful for this journey with a sense of humbleness and boldness…
As I work to win souls into Your life-giving Kingdom;
While submitting to a uniquely divine partnership of glorious guidance…
Under Your tender loving care!

In Jesus’ Name… Amen!
