President’s Day 2024: Did You Know?

Did you know …?

Today, February 19th (third Monday in February) is known as President’s Day, but did you realize that all states do not think of it in the same way? Some consider it to be Washington’s day; some Washington and Lincoln; some all presidents. There are even states that celebrate these two birthdays at another time altogether.

Here are some facts about Washington and Lincoln which would be good standards for all of us as Business as Mission practitioners.

George Washington made learning a lifelong quest, and he passionately believed that all Americans should have the opportunity to broaden their horizons.

He built a library that would ultimately consist of more than 1,200 titles. More importantly, he committed himself to educating the next generation and supported public academies, colleges, and universities throughout the new nation. By the end of his life, he had come to see the advancement of knowledge as a national priority.

Abraham Lincoln is known for failures and his persistence. He failed in his first business and also lost his first bid for a presidential ticket. He tried a case before the Supreme Court and lost. He lost five separate elections before being elected as the president of the U.S.

Depression was Lincoln’s friend during most of his life. He stayed depressed while he lost and fought. However, he never quit

In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”   Abraham Lincoln
